Ecclesiastes 12 1. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years you will say: "I find pleasure in them "-
2. Before the sun and light and moon and stars are darkened, and clouds return after the rain;
3. When the guardians of the house tremble, and the ladder of strong men, when the mills ceased because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4. When the doors are closed to the street and the sound of grinding fades when men rise up to the sound of the birds, but all their songs are extinguished;
5. When men are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets, when the flowers of the almond and the grasshopper drags himself along and desire no longer stirring. Then the man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets.
6. Remember him – before the silver cord is cut, or golden bowl is broken before the pitcher is broken at the fountain or the wheel broken at the well,
7. Then the dust came down again, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
8. "Nonsense!" Nonsense! " says Master. [O leader of the assembly, also in verses 9 and 10] "It all makes sense!"
September was not only the master scholar, but also imparted knowledge to the public. He pondered and searched and put in order many proverbs.
10 Master searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, their statements collected as a fundamental part of the nails – given by one Shepherd.
12 Be careful, my son, of anything beyond them. Of making many books there is end and much study wearies the body.
13 Now all has been heard, here's the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into view, with every secret thing, whether good or bad.
We must remember our sins against our Creator, repent and seek forgiveness. We should remember our duties, and devoted himself to them, looking at him through the grace and strength. This should be done early, while the body is strong and active spirits.
Then follows a figurative description of old age and disease, which has some difficulties, but the meaning is clear, to show how uncomfortable, generally, the days of old age are.
As the four verses, compared to 2-5, are a figurative description diseases that usually the elderly, as compared to six ads on the circumstances that take place in the hour of death. If sin had not entered into the world, these diseases are not known.
These are the words of one who could speak by dear-bought experience of the vanity of the world, w as he considered the value of souls, which gave good attention to what he wrote and spoke the words of truth always pleasant words.
The truths of God are as goads of those are as they are bored, and nails to be wandering the means for the heart, which can never lose our duty to sit, or taken from it.
The Shepherd of Israel is the Giver of inspired wisdom. The title is applied in Scripture that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The prophets sought diligently, what or what kind of time, the Spirit of Christ in them meant, when beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.
A write many books not adapted to the brevity of human life, and would fatigue the writer and the reader, and then it was much more so than it is now. Everything would be vanity and vexation, except for this conclusion, that the fear of God and keep His commandments, is the whole duty of man.
The fear of God beaten around the baby the soul towards him, which are produced by the Holy Spirit. There may be terror where there is no love, or rather, where there is hatred. But this is different from fear grace of God as the feelings of an affected child. The fear of God, is often put for the whole of the true religion in the heart, and unmatched practical results in life.
Now to him as a merciful Saviour, who will soon come as an almighty Judge, when he will discover the things of darkness, and manifest the intentions of all hearts.
Why does God record in his word, that all is vanity, but to avoid deceiving ourselves to our ruin? He makes our duty to be our interest. That is engraved in our hearts. Fear God and keep His commandments, because this should be all that concerns man.
